We only process personal data of persons under the age of 16 if we have the consent of those with parental authority. By providing personal data for processing, you declare that you are at least 16 years of age or that you have obtained consent from parents or other persons with parental authority. If we establish that a person in our records is younger than 16 and processing has not been consented to by a person with parental authority, we will delete the personal data.
Should you have indications that we are processing personal data of a person under the age of 16 without the consent of the authorised person, please contact us at info@marineconnect.nl so that we can delete the relevant data.
In order to minimise the risk of loss of personal data, we retain personal data for no more than one year. We do this for your convenience. By retaining your personal data for one year, you do not need to provide your personal data to us each time. If you agree to our privacy policy again within the year in which we retain your personal data, we may retain your data for another year from that moment. We may only retain your personal data for longer periods in order to comply with legal obligations.
We take good care of your personal data and have therefore taken the following measures to prevent misuse, loss, unauthorised access, unwanted disclosure and unauthorised modification.
The connection to the website (www.marineconnect.nl) is established via a secure connection.
The computers on which personal data are processed and stored are always equipped with the latest security updates from Windows or Apple.

The group of employees with access to personal data is kept to a minimum.
All employees with access to personal data are bound by a confidentiality agreement aimed at protecting personal data.

Some of the above processors (Google LLC/Firebase and Amazon SES) are established outside the European Economic Area. For the transfer of personal data to these parties, Marine Connect B.V. has put in place appropriate safeguards in the form of Standard Contractual Clauses as referred to in Article 46(2)(c) of the GDPR.

We do not sell personal data to third parties and only provide these to others where necessary for the performance of our agreement with you or to comply with a legal obligation. We enter into data processing agreements with companies that process your data on our behalf, to ensure that our partners maintain the same level of security and confidentiality of personal data.
The MarineConnect app uses Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC) for crash reporting. Only device-bound technical data is collected (no personal data) to improve the stability of the app. No advertising IDs are used and no tracking across other apps or websites takes place. The app does not use cookies.
Your data remains yours. You always have the option to view the data we process about you, to have the data corrected or deleted. In addition, you can withdraw your consent to data processing or object to the processing of your data by us. If you wish, we will send your data in a computer file to you or to an organisation designated by you.
A request for access, correction, deletion, transfer of personal data, withdrawal of consent or to object to the processing of data can be sent to info@marineconnect.nl.
To ensure that the request for access has been made by you, we ask you to send a copy of your identity document with the request. In this copy, please black out the passport photo, MRZ (machine readable zone, the strip with numbers at the bottom of the passport), passport number and Citizen Service Number (BSN) so that this data cannot be intercepted by third parties. We will respond to a request within four weeks.
You can delete your account from within the app itself, via Settings → Delete account. After a deletion request, your personal data will be erased within 30 days, except for data that we are required to retain longer on the basis of a legal obligation. Posted vacancy data must be deleted by you before you close your account.
Automated decision-making
We do not use personal data for automated decisions. This goes without saying but we are obliged to mention it.
Complaints with the Dutch Data Protection Authority
For completeness, we would like to point out that there is an option to file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) about the processing of your data. Amendments
Marine Connect B.V. reserves the right to make changes to the Privacy Policy without further notice. These changes will take effect immediately after they are posted on the site. This Privacy Policy was last amended on 18 March 2026.
If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in a high risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify you of this as soon as possible via the email address known to us. Data breaches will be reported to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) in accordance with Article 33 of the GDPR.
